June 2021 \\ in FOCUS at Dochia \\ SOCIAL SELF

“Authors were shy, unsociable creatures, atoning for their lack of social aptitude by inventing their own companions and conversations.” Agatha Christie

Some of us have become online authors in search of closeness in a time of distancing. The blurred line between reality and virtual has gained definition by the sheer lack of real connection. We were so worried that the virtual would take over and impend on our realities that now you could say we live the nightmare that we so fearfully wanted to avoid.

But like all those things we don't have and wish we had, maybe this is exactly what was needed to make reality the undisputed queen again.

This month we will look at how a new, confident social self can thrive in a healthy balance between a real and online life without compromise or fear. At how our home environments can nourish the most beautiful conversations and physical interactions with others and how humanity will never relinquish the importance of the real, social self as part of an impeccable life.
