Setting up the ultimate backyard feast just in time for summer
Whether your entertaining an intimate group of friends or hosting the annual long weekend barbeque blowout the right outdoor setup is key to making the gathering a success. When the weather permits and al fresco dining becomes the standards we have a few tips up our sleeves to amp up any backyard spread. Bonus, all these ideas can be adapted to suit the space your working with, whether it be a 100 sqft balcony or sprawling backyard terrace.
1. Lighting! Ambient lighting is key and there are a few ways to incorporate it, even if your space doesn’t have electricity. Pretty string lights or a few candles sprinkled along the table are simple yet effective at setting the mood.
2. Fresh flowers, the smell alone is reason enough but other than that the colours and arrangements help liven up the tablespace and can elevate a specific theme. Simple colour blooms of the same variety paired in dainty bud vases create an eclectic and fun vibe.
3. And of course, the food… Whatever the menu may be, we suggest sticking to a theme. Maybe Tuscan feast or a tasting menu inspired by countries around the world. A grazing board is an ideal way to get the event going, with wine or mocktails served alongside in pretty outdoor glassware.
